Power is tribal, and the King Crimson sample does not falter at any point. It’s as though when he’s speaking he isn’t doing it for an album, but he’s forcing his anger and emotion into his listeners personally. Kanye rants for over four minutes on every single topic on his mind. POWERĪn all-time pump up song, Power delivers on every single aspect of the song. It’s such an outlier in the entirety of Kanye’s career, and it’s smack in the middle of his opus. Self reflection is difficult for any person stuck in fame to accomplish, even more so to brandish yourself as a douche bag for the rest of your career. One note has the power to inspire emotion and the sadness wells throughout the entire intro.

It’s a perfect close to Yeezus as the lyrics force a close, “I’m tired, you tired, Jesus wept.” It’s as if Kanye understands his album is exhausting for everyone, and Bound 2’s chorus is the closest thing the full album provides to a distinctly sonic sound. Even so much so the song is divided a stark “Uh-huh honey” on each and every shift. Bound 2 finds itself stuck between Kanye’s incredibly brash vocals and a beautifully sung chorus. Yeezus has many different phases and every song has a separate identity.

The drones force indecision throughout the entire song, and it forces Kanye’s sadness into the forefront. There is a destination, but there’s no way to find it. The quiet piano to introduce the chorus, the drums creating balance under a droning synth, and it all comes together with Kanye’s gorgeous auto tuned lyrics.

The best off 808’s, Street Lights excellence is hidden in the subtleties. It’s one of the most unique songs in Kanye’s entire discography and the best song on The College Dropout. The true brilliance of the song doesn’t shine until Kanye introduces himself for the breakdown – showing a heavy Daft Punk influence distorting vocals. Either way, the song features one of Kanye’s best melodies highlighted by the driving violins. “You ain’t never find nobody better than me” he sings, as if he’s convincing himself and anyone that may listen. You can physically feel his own pain in the midst of his own auto tuned melodies. Looking back at a time where Kanye was vulnerable, Heartless is the honest track in his entire career. Three minutes and thirty one seconds of Kanye pleading with whomever inspired the album cover. However his ability to rap around the sample, as well as provide an all-time beat carries the song into the list. As far as ‘Ye choruses go, Stronger is a little weak. Strongerĭaft Punk sample and Kanye West vocals? What could go wrong? Kanye brought his own 808s onto the Daft Punk classic however it’s the keys mid-verse that bring the song to instant classic. The true genius in Famous comes from the brief pauses and vocals mid-verse and the perfect the Sister Nancy sample. Rhianna wouldn’t be outdone, as her magnificent chorus floats between every Kanye verse. The first stanza provides enough controversy to get the masses talking about his song.
